Over the past 30 years, I have worked with people at the heart of their need, hurt and pain. Those experiences have guided the way I do counseling.
My approach to counseling involves a balance of grace and truth. I strive to provide a safe, caring, supportive environment while standing alongside and challenging my clients to learn, grow and overcome obstacles. People would describe me as being a good listener, appropriately directive, compassionate and easy going with a sense of humor. I know how and when to use the Bible during counseling ( if appropriate) without being pushy, preachy or judgmental.
I pull from different schools of thought according to the client’s individual need. I am drawn to a solution-focused approach because indiviuals choose their own behavior, and therefore are instrumental in choosing their own solutions. Together, my clients and I work to establish goals and help the client learn new ways to cope and overcome life’s difficulties.
I work to meet my clients where they are emotionally, relationally, and spiritually, helping to heal past wounds and working to build healthier life skills. I believe people have it within themselves to grow and change, but because of life’s challenges, they find it difficult to take important steps. Working together, we will discover and use your strengths to address and resolve the issues you are currently facing.
